untitled (may 2020 #1)

I took the sky from its
pots and boxes
Where it had twinkled behind
Metal and paper.

I laid it out flat
So as to find what was missing –
This obviously proved elusive.

Corners and sides first, as
I had been taught was always the way –
But this time wasn’t so usual.

All the pieces looked the same
And yet they felt different to my fingers.
